Alex Goodin is an Associate at Kennon Craver focusing on small business, nonprofit, trademark, and copyright matters.

Before becoming a lawyer, Alex began his career in classical music. After earning degrees in music performance from Michigan State University and Boston University, he spent six years teaching early childhood music and performing with musical ensembles from Boston to Berlin to Chicago.

Alex earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law. During law school, he served as student director of the UNC Law Pro Bono Program and as a comments editor on the North Carolina Law Review, and he completed an externship with a boutique start-up law firm.

Although the transition from music to law may seem unconventional, Alex finds that the creative mindset and growth-oriented approach that he developed in the arts translates seamlessly to his legal practice, fueling his drive to find thoughtful, individualized, and forward-looking solutions for his clients.

Alex lives in Carrboro with his wife, two young children, and their elderly Dachshund. Outside of work, he enjoys reading picture books with his kids and savoring a few cups of coffee on a slow morning.
